We’ve compiled a list of our most frequently asked questions about the Sell My Motor Car service… 

  • DO YOU ACCEPT DAMAGED CARS?

We’re happy to buy cars with cosmetic, or even mechanical problems – but it’s vital that we’re aware of any damage before we make you an offer. This is why when you submit details about your car, we ask you to include all known issues. We may even ask you to provide photos via email of any damage mentioned, such as scratches and dents. Giving an accurate description of your vehicle will ensure the purchase offer we give you is fair and that we’re able to honour the price when we come to inspect and collect the vehicle from you.

  • WHAT IF I HAVE OUTSTANDING FINANCE OR LOANS AGAINST MY CAR?

We are able to deal with your finance lender directly to clear the loan and pay you the remaining balance. If the amount owed is more than the current value of your car, then we will clear your finance in full and you will need to pay the difference back to us. Similarly, if the amount owed is less than the current value of your car, we will clear your finance and pay the remaining amount directly to you.

  • WHERE IS SELL MY MOTOR CAR LOCATED?

We offer a nationwide service from the Sell My Motor Car office in Seaham, County Durham based in the North East of England. Even if you are not local to us, your car will always be collected in person from either your home or office.

  • WHY CAN'T YOU GIVE AN INSTANT VALUATION ON MY CAR?

Unlike other car buying companies, we do not use automatic online systems or average auction prices to value your car. Instead, we value every make and model independently to allow for any optional extras on your car which could potentially add hundreds, if not thousands of pounds to its value. 

  • HOW DO I KNOW IF YOU’RE OFFERING ME A FAIR PRICE?

We have years of experience in buying vehicles, so we use our leading industry knowledge to assess your car, taking into account a wide variety of factors. This ensures a very fair price for our customers.

  • WILL I RECEIVE IRRELEVANT EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS?

The team at Sell My Motor Car are the only people that will contact you during the purchase process, and only ever about your car. We keep your data safe and secure, and will never sell your information or share it with anyone else, nor will we add you to any mailing lists without your permission.

  • WHY SHOULD I SELL MY CAR THROUGH SELL MY MOTOR CAR?

We provide the added personal attention your car deserves, by taking into consideration any changes or extra features you may have added. You’ll benefit from valuations made by a person, not a machine or average book price. 

  • ARE THERE ANY AGE AND MILEAGE RESTRICTIONS ON A CAR?

No. You’ll be pleased to hear we can make an offer on a car of any age and mileage.

  • DO I HAVE TO ACCEPT YOUR OFFER?

You are under no obligation to accept an offer from Sell My Motor Car. However, once you accept an offer from us, sign the purchase agreement and arrange a collection date, we will expect you to honour the transaction. 

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I ACCEPT AN OFFER?

Firstly, we'll send you a purchase agreement and arrange a mutually convenient time to come and collect the vehicle from your home or place of work. Next, we will transfer you the full balance on the day of collection, clear any owed finance directly with the finance company, and deal with all paperwork. Remember, we can also advise and deal with any private plate retention or transfers.
